When the vegan Spicy Falafel Pocket came out, I rushed to Starbucks to try it, and found out it was only available in the United States. I was disappointed but not surprised. We had the new coffee, but not the vegan wrap. It seems like everything new starts out in the US or the UK. But when the spring Starbucks menu came out in Canada, it had the vegan Spicy Falafel Pocket, and I was shocked!
First, I should say that I read other reviews on Reddit and people were saying it wasn’t that great. So I wasn’t as disappointed we didn’t have it when I read that.
But, I don’t know what they were talking about. Because when we found out our Starbucks had it, we got it that same day and we both (my husband and I) agreed – it’s delicious.
The price is $4.95. And I think the wrap might be a little too small for that price.
I would say it’s just a little too small to be considered a good portion size for me. In other words, I’m still hungry after eating it.
But, it’s good!
You have to love hummus in order to love this. If you do, you will love it.
It’s not thick falafel pieces. The inside is a mashed consistency and doesn’t look good in a picture, but I’ll show it.
See, I told you it doesn’t look good.
But it tastes good!
It really just tastes like a thick, well-flavored humus inside of a flatbread.
Inside, there is falafel, hummus, and a chimichurri sauce. It all blends together to taste like a delicious, thick hummus.
And the flatbread is delicious. Soft, thick, and everything a flatbread should be.
I don’t know why people weren’t liking it. Mostly they just said, “It wasn’t that great,” meaning that it wasn’t anything special.
But for me, this is something I’m craving. Perhaps it’s because we don’t have a lot of hot vegan options in bread like this around me and it’s nice to get something in a soft bread that’s hot.
But, whatever the reason, I like it, and I could eat this everyday for lunch.
If you try it, please let me know what you think about it in the comments below.
