The other day, I made an order from Temu. Mostly because they had a non-slip blanket for a couch that I thought I would want. But now I’m wondering if Temu is a scam, and there are a few reasons for it. While it does look like the order has been shipped and is on the way, there are a few things that seem really weird to me.
I Keep Getting ‘We’re Sorry’ Emails And Texts
I made the order on July 7th. According to my tracking, my delivery is not supposed to be until July 14th or after.
But, I keep getting emails and texts saying we are sorry and we’re late.
What are they talking about? They are not late.
I’ve never seen this kind of aggressive and confusing sales tactic before, and it’s starting to make me wonder if Temu is a scam.
I also keep getting texts and emails saying that I’ve won gifts or was credited more coupons, which is weird. How many free things can you get?
To be honest, that’s why I ordered. I got 3 items for free and then saved money on 3 other items.
And at the time, I did think “This is too good to be true, there must be some sort of scam or catch going on here.” But like I said, I wanted the sofa cover so I went ahead and took ‘advantage’ of the free items and savings. And then I crossed my fingers and waited to see what was going to happen.
I Got One Extremely Confusing Email From Temu
One of the emails I received from Temu said my purchases have been returned as credits.
What does this mean? This is so spammy and weird!
I wrote them but haven’t heard back about it.
I’m Wondering If Temu Wants To Get More Money From Me Because Their Stuff Is Not Good
If I hadn’t received any of these spammy emails and texts after my order, I probably wouldn’t be too worried about it. I can see with the tracking number that my order is moving along. (Maybe it’s a fake tracking system?)
But all these aggressive texts (I get at least 2 per day) and emails (I get at least 1 per day) are making me think that Temu wants to get more money from me before I realize that it’s a scam.
I’ve read other reviews that say the products from Temu are cheap – not just in monetary form but also as in cheaply made products. I’m wondering if they know that I will realize that once I get my order, so they are trying to get me to buy as much as possible from them with ‘coupons’ and ‘lucky draws’ before I receive my initial order and opt out of buying ever again.
If that’s the case, it’s a horrible business plan as you will never get repeat customers.
But, I can’t say that it’s what’s going to happen because I haven’t received my order yet. As soon as I receive my order, I will update my review of Temu here with what the products are like and whether the emails and texts stop from Temu.
And if I don’t receive my order from Temu, which I’m a little worried about at this point, I will update this review of Temu with exactly what I think of ordering from them.
In the meantime, does anyone else have experience with Temu? Please share in the comment section below.
Update: I Got The Delivery And The Products Are Crap
My tracking with Temu was correct. The order had moved at the speed it said and went out for delivery when it arrived to my city.
BUT, the packaging was horrible! And the products were crap. I would rather just go out and buy something for twice the price that’s going to work.
Everything looked like it had been sat on at least twice.
The packaging was cheap.
And two of the products that needed instructions, came without instructions.
And I haven’t taken the couch cover over to my moms yet, so I’ve left it in its packaging, but I can tell there is only a seat cover and no backrest covers, which isn’t what was advertised.
All in all, I took a chance and paid about $50 for crap and a bunch of stress. I won’t do it again, and I don’t suggest you do either.
