It is parenting month in the Lifebook membership. I have no kids, and I have no kids in my family. But I realize that parenting has a lot to do with contributing. You are contributing to the wellness, health, and future of your children as a parent, and ‘contribution’ stands out to me as something that I want to do. So, instead of it being the parenting month for me, this is my contribution month.
My Premise
I think that positive contribution is very important. There are plenty of people out there contributing nothing but hate, fear, and anger in the world, and I think it’s important to balance that out and contribute positive things with your time, energy, money, and knowledge as often as you can.
I am a little different from many people I know – vegetarian (now vegan), independent, focused on personal development, no kids, and on a career path that most people are not on. But, through my example, I’ve seen people change in my life, and it’s really rewarding when that happens.
That’s why I write. I feel like blogging is what helps me to contribute.
- I can help people understand how awesome being vegan is.
- I can help people decide whether or not they want to try something I’ve tried.
- I can give out hacks, tips, and information that may help people in some way.
- I can share my journey and hopefully contribute positively in that way.
I think putting yourself out there through your words or through video is a great way to contribute.
I believe that even vloggers or bloggers who seemingly vlog or blog about nothing are still contributing. Maybe they are making people laugh, or, inspiring or motivating people in some way – even if it’s just because they don’t want to be like them!
My Vision
I want to help people who want to go vegan, go vegan.
I also want to help people become happier.
My vision is that my websites help people go vegan and/or become happier in their lives.
I also want to create an animal rescue business at some point and contribute to the homeless and needy in many different ways.
My Purpose
I feel like being vegan is very important. It can be good for health, the environment, and the animals. And I feel that contributing what I can to help people go vegan will be helping many aspects of their lives and others, and it will feel good to do that.
For many years, I wouldn’t let myself see the animal abuse going on. Seeing animal abuse online (or anywhere) is the worst for me. Seeing animals being used and abused for food, entertainment, and clothes makes me sick. I don’t necessarily want other people to see that stuff (because there is a lot of it that you will NEVER get out of your head, trust me), but I want other people to acknowledge it and do something about it.
The problem is you can’t just go up to people and tell them what you think. They don’t like that. I don’t like that. And it doesn’t work anyway.
For instance, my dad knows we don’t like the idea of killing animals for food, yet he proudly tells us when he is going out for lobster as if we are supposed to be amazed and excited for him. He knows how lobster is cooked, and he doesn’t care. He also doesn’t care that we can’t stand the thought of it. I now realize I will never get that message across to him because he simply doesn’t give a crap.
But, if I can help people who do care and want to go vegan, then that’s what I want to do. I want to help people, who have started to make their minds up to go vegan, to see how easy and rewarding it is.
I also know how good it is to feel good, and I want other people to feel good, happy, and fulfilled in their lives.
My Strategy
As far as going vegan, I will continue writing about various vegan products that I try, but in order to really contribute, I need to add something else to the mix, I just don’t know what it is.
I am passionate about going vegan and being vegan, but I don’t yet know how to create something that helps other people feel the same way.
There are plenty of vegan news blogs out there and websites similar to PETA and food blogs with vegan recipes, and I don’t want to duplicate them. I just don’t know what to do yet, so my strategy for that is still in the works.
My strategy for promoting happiness and fulfillment is to keep writing about my personal development and what I learn. I will never stop learning and (hopefully) improving, so I’ll always have something to write about.
I would also like to create some sort of product down the line that helps others in various areas of their lives, but, just like the vegan thing, I don’t know what that is yet.
In short, this month I’ll be reflecting on how I can contribute more, and I will be keeping my eyes wide open for the answers I need.
