Insight Into My Quality Of Life Category From Lifebook

Last Updated on May 4, 2021 by Kari

This month the Lifebook Membership is focused on Quality of Life. I like this aspect of Lifebook. It’s where my deepest desires sit and if I could snap my fingers and make my visions come to life today, I would. But, the thing I’ve learned about getting the quality of life you desire, is that you need to have many of your other areas of life working for you. When you get other areas working for you, then your quality of life starts to improve. And, if you want to improve your quality of life, you need to get other areas of your life working in certain ways.

My Quality Of Life Core Beliefs

quality of life beliefs

I truly believe that having a great quality of life helps me be a better person all around. I’m better in my relationships, my work, and my contribution

Jon Butcher was talking about how contributing naturally happens when you get, and it’s a never-ending circle. The more you get, the more you can contribute. And the more you contribute, the more you get. I’ve found this to be true over and over again in my life.

Current Strategies To Get The Quality Of Life I Believe I Should Have

One of my strategies to attain this quality of life is to do what makes me happy. So simple.

I think someone like Jack Canfield taught that years ago, and I’ve never forgotten it. Doing what makes me happy allows me to have great experiences and buy things that I enjoy and keep me in a state of happiness.

This is why I write for a living. It makes me happy and has drastically improved my quality of life since I started doing it.

Before I worked online, I worked at a number of different places, just trying to find something that made me happy. I went to college three times. I just couldn’t figure it out. But when I realized that you could work online for a living, I didn’t take that long to jump on board. It fit in with my values and made me excited.

My quality of life has drastically improved because of that one decision to move from the offline to the online world of work.

Another one of my strategies is to remove things from my life that are not enjoyable. I know this kind of sounds the same as doing what makes you happy, but it’s a little different.

For example, if there is clutter, it doesn’t give me joy, so removing it is important so that I can stay on a level of emotion that allows me to be happy and continue to move towards the ultimate quality of life that I want.

Another one of my strategies is to fix what’s broken or get something new. For instance, we had a toilet that was working on and off and was driving us insane. We tried fixing it multiple times, but it never worked. Despite it just being a toilet, it weighed on us and decreased our happiness with our home. When we installed a new toilet, it was like we had won the lottery and our dream house. We felt so much better about everything.

3 Quality Of Life Improving Strategies That I’m Implementing This Month

I’ve decided on a doing a few things to help me improve my quality of life.

This includes:

  • Working harder (aka doing what I say I’m going to do) – This is my main strategy to improve my quality of life. Everything else supports this strategy. One of the things I want to do in the upcoming year is to increase my income as I know it’s going to improve my quality of life and my husband’s quality of life. I haven’t had to focus on this too much in the previous years, but because of COVID-19, my husband lost his full-time job and that meant that a chunk of our income and our benefits were lost as well. So, I need to focus on replacing and even increasing that income so that I and my husband can continue to enjoy the quality of life that we are used to. Working harder means planning out what I’m going to do and, most importantly, DOING IT. I’ve been pretty lucky that I can be lax when it comes to my schedule and how much I do in my days, but since I want my quality of life to stay the same or improve, that’s changing this month.
  • Journaling daily – Journaling is something I’ve done for a long time. I’ve journaled off and on since I could write! But I’ve let that habit go recently and I need to start it back up again. I find that journaling allows me to take a look at my life, what’s working, what’s not working, what’s staying the same, and what’s changing, which will all help me in my quest to be more disciplined in my work.
  • More star watching – My health and happiness both improve every time I get into nature. Especially when I stay somewhere in nature, such as a cabin or even just a campground. But one of my biggest passions has always been the nighttime. I love to get out when it’s dark and watch the stars, especially the meteor shows. Lately, I haven’t been laying out and looking at the stars, but I have been trying to see the meteor showers as I normally do. Unfortunately, every single meteor shower this year has been cloudy for me. We’ve tried driving far away, even to different provinces, and we are always met with clouds for the meteor shower. It’s detrimental to my health. It depresses me. I need to see meteor showers. They make me feel alive and give me a sense of wonder. They help me remember that there is more to life than the pointless things I see online every day. The point is that I’m going to get out and watch the stars more, meteor shower or not. I’m hoping it will stir some more passion and purpose in me that will help me work harder and do what I need to do.

A Strategy That I’m Thinking About Using Consistently

Jon Butcher talks about deferred gratification a lot. I think that anyone who envisions a quality of life where they can buy whatever they want, whenever they want, will need to incorporate this strategy into their life. It will help you save money and put it where it will come in useful. I don’t have this strategy in my life. Including me. I’ve been trying, but there are some areas where I just do what I want.

When I feel something will make me happy, I do it. I can attest to the fact that sometimes it takes away from future things, but I enjoy doing what I want when I want it. By practicing deferred gratification, especially with my finances, I know I could end up saving money and bring more experiences into my life that require planning and bigger finances. This is top on my ‘I should do this’ list for my quality of life.
