We all know that you can smell Lush coming from a mile away, and often it’s a very strong and overpowering scent. But November’s Lush Kitchen box smelled good. Like candy that I wanted to eat. I have never smelled Lush products that I wanted to eat. This month’s theme was “delicious” as far as I’m concerned!
The best-smelling product to me was the Yog Nog. In the Lush Kitchen Box there were two Yog Nog products, so I’m assuming the Lush staff figured that people would enjoy the smell?
Yog Nog smells like caramel to me. And I love the smell of caramel.
In the box, there was Yog Nog perfume.
And a Yog Nog body conditioner.
Ironically, they have different ingredients but they smell exactly the same.
For instance, in the body conditioner, they have maple sugar extract as one of the first ingredients, which makes sense when it comes to a caramel smell. But in the perfume, they have Cananga Odorate flower oil. I don’t know how that relates to a caramel smell. I guess I don’t need to know. They smell exactly alike.
The perfume says to spritz on, but there’s no spraying mechanism on it. So, I just take off the cap and dab it on.
The body conditioner is something I will never buy, as I don’t really understand its purpose. You are supposed to smooth it on after cleaning and then rinse it off. I’ve done it a few times, and I just feel slightly sticky and a little dry afterward. I don’t understand what it’s doing, besides smelling really, really good.
The shower gel for November’s Lush Kitchen box is Taai Taai.
I like the smell of this shower gel. It just smells like tangerine to me. There’s nothing wrong with that!
I wrote in to ask about the ingredient Red 4, because I know that it can be associated with carmine, which is obtained from a bug. I’m not even close to a fan of that.
They wrote back a typical overexcited Lush answer that didn’t really answer anything because they just copied and pasted it from their site.
It is synthetically made in a lab!
I figured that was the best answer I was going to get so I left it at that.
The bath bomb is called the Fireball.
I haven’t used it yet, but it smells like cinnamon and orange and reminds me of many other Lush bath bombs out there. Except maybe a little more “cool” looking.
One of the ingredients is yellow 5 lake, which is also known as tartrazine. I can’t eat tartrazine as it seems to hurt something in my digestive system. So I’m not exactly excited about bathing in it.
If you look at the effects of Yellow 5 lake in food, it’s not exactly something you would want to ingest anyways.
I would assume that because you are not ingesting it, the effects don’t apply. But I’m not totally sure. And I’m not liking that ingredient at all. Actually, looking at it, it’s in the Yog Nog body conditioner as well.
Lastly, there’s a body scrub in the November Lush Kitchen box.
I haven’t opened the package yet, but it smells nice. I don’t know if it smells like pear, but I do know that I like a good exfoliator, so I think I’m going to like this. I’ll update this review when I try it out.
All in all, I like the smell of the Yog Nog perfume and body conditioner. Even though I don’t really understand what the body conditioner does.
The bath bomb smells nice, but I wish there were better ingredients.
The scrub smells nice and I think I’m going to like it.
And the shower gel smells nice even though I’m still suspicious about that Red 4.
They also included some stickers in November’s Lush Kitchen box.
These I might actually use in my Happy Planner.
I think I’m going to take a break from the Lush Kitchen box for a few months as the ingredients aren’t really appealing to me. I want to spend my money on products with ingredients I feel more comfortable with.
